About Me
I was delighted to be interviewed by journalist Liz Nicholls for the R&A magazine ahead of Bucks Art Weeks this June. The article explores my journey from nursing to printmaking, life in my garden studio with Bella, and what drives my passion for colour and craft.
Art has been a constant thread running through my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up as the daughter of an architect, I developed an early fascination with the built world — watching my father's drawings come alive as real buildings instilled in me a deep love for structure, character, and detail that would later find its way into my work.
Based in Buckinghamshire, I am a self-taught printmaker and mixed media painter whose work celebrates colour, texture, and the beauty of everyday life. I work equally across two distinct disciplines — vibrant lino prints and richly layered mixed media paintings — bringing the same energy and passion to both.
My architectural lino print series draws directly from a lifetime of travel. My husband and I have explored buildings across New England, the Netherlands, and beyond, always seeking out places with story and soul. "I'm always drawn to beautiful buildings with character," I say. "There is always a print waiting to be found."
It is in the linocut process itself where I find particular joy — from tracing the first image onto the lino block, to making that initial cut, to watching the composition gradually emerge through each layer of colour in a reduction print. It is a process that rewards patience, precision, and a willingness to be surprised.
My studio journey took an unexpected turn over twelve years ago, when spinal surgery brought my nursing career to a close. What followed was a silver lining I have never taken for granted. "I loved nursing deeply," I reflect, "but art has given me an equal passion — and the privilege of walking two seconds to my garden studio every morning." My day begins after a dog walk and ends only when the work demands it.
My talent has not gone unnoticed. I have won the Cranfield Colours Printmaking Award and the Essdee Printmaking Award at the prestigious Ironbridge Fine Arts Exhibition, been featured by the Making a Mark blog, selected for the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, and named by Artfinder as one of their Ones to Watch for 2026.
I exhibit regularly, open my garden studio as part of Bucks Art Weeks each year, and welcome visitors by appointment.
My work is held in private collections and available through Artfinder and Etsy.
